Hallway Piece #1
Thomas Roland
May 14th 2015- June 8th 2015

Thomas Roland creates optical phenomenon through color and pattern to challenge and alter the viewer’s perception of architectural space and geometric form. Through the use of high contrast and vibrating colors, his artwork creates a sense of movement and space. His wall pieces become fully realized through the viewer’s experience of it in its architectural surroundings. The subtle irregularities of the form become visible and invisible as the viewer moves around the piece. When creating these installations, Roland executes them on a larger scale so the viewer is surrounded and engulfed by the work.
